Benzodiazepine: An Overview of Xanax, Klonopin and the Likes

Alprazolam and Clonazepam

Benzodiazepines are a type of drug class that are used to primarily treat anxiety, but can be used to treat other conditions as well. All benzodiazepines are known to affect neurotransmitter chemical that nerves use to communicate, also known as GABAs, or gamma-amniobutyric acids. It has been thought and researched by doctors and scientists that an over excess of nerve activity in the brain can cause anxiety or other brain related disorders. GABAs are what reduce anxiety and psychological activities within the brain, which is why benzodiazepines are prescribed and taken.

This classification of substance is easily abused if prescription not properly followed. Seek immediate attention for assistance.
